Last year, nearly 40 heroin users in Ireland, Scotland and England died from a bug they picked up from a batch of contaminated heroin containing a weird bug called Clostridium novii. This bug causes your whole system to become septic as the poison it produces goes through your whole body. In the last week (at time of going to press) there have been rumours circulating that the original batch had been buried in the Liverpool area and had now been dug up with a view to selling it again. Whether true or not, you need to take care and follow the rules below. Especially as we have now received news from public health bodies that 3 drug users in Scotland have contracted a bug called necrotising fasciitis , a bacteria that literally eats your flesh. This sci-fi horror bug has now claimed the life of at least one of the Scottish users. It beggars belief, even when you’ve been around some of the scumbags we have, to think that anyone, other than a serial killer, would be prepared to let loose gear like this. If any of our readers know anything about this stuff, ring your local drug team, tell your GP or ring us at the Waterloo and get the information passed on.

THIS IS NOT GRASSING! TO DISTRIBUTE CONTAMINATED HEROIN IS TO ENGAGE IN SERIAL MASS MURDER!!! ORDINARY RULES DO NOT APPLY IN SUCH CASES.

Finally, think on. You cannot tell, and we don’t care how many times you’ve been round the block, whether you are dealing with contaminated gear or not. To reduce your risk of getting either of these hideous infections please remember the rules from last year:

[#] Smoke heroin instead of injecting

[#] If you must inject do not inject into muscle or under the skin: make sure you hit the vein – your blood is better at killing the bacteria than your muscle

[#] Don’t share needles, syringes, cookers/spoons or other ‘works’ with other drug users

[#] Use as little citric acid as possible to dissolve the heroin. A lot of citric can damage the muscle or the body under the skin, and this damage gives bacteria a better chance to grow

[#] If you inject more than one type of drug, inject each at a separate place on your body and with clean works for each injection. This is important because some drugs (e.g. cocaine) could give bacteria in heroin a better chance to grow

[#] If you get swelling, redness, pain where you have injected yourself, you should get a doctor to check it out immediately, especially if the infection seems different to others you may have had in the past.

REMEMBER, IF YOU KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THE WHEREABOUTS OF THIS STUFF RING SOMEONE PROPER. TO SELL CONTAMINATED GEAR IS ‘JUNKIECIDE’.
THE RULES DON’T APPLY TO SUCH SCUM.
